Any good for snakes and/or pests or is it just a waste of money?

I got some .357 rat shot and it worked as you would expect . You have to be close due to the very short barrel length. However. If I was close if was much easier to hit a snake than with normal pistol bullets, which I find to be nearly impossible.

It works.

Doesn't really cycle in an auto.

I have some in .22 and .38

Both used out of revolvers.

.22 is good to about 5 ft.

.38 more like 7-9 (snub) and about 10 (4 inch) depending on barrel.

Both are good a 5 ft.

I had luck with them cycling in my Kimber Micro. But I have heard of issues with getting them to cycle in an auto. I've also shot them out of my Remington 1911 (45)

1. CCI snake shot cycles about 80% of the time in my 9mm Glocks.

2. CCI cycles 100% of the time in my .40 Glocks.

My guess at why this is -- the 9mm & .40 Glocks have the same recoil spring. The .40 snake shot has more energy, so it cycles better.

Works as advertised. I used CCI in a Ruger LCR 357. BUT be aware that a day on the lease riding a tractor can cause the plastic caps to loosen. Then the recoil from a shot can cause the caps to extend past the cylinder and stop any follow-up shots until the caps are seated back in the case. Not really an issue in an auto.
