Maybe they wanted to control the pace of the game to prevent State from having too many opportunities to score points like last year. However they still had more plays than we did.

90% of their plays were high percentage checkdowns, so by the nature of it they were going to run a lot of plays

if we had any semblance of a run game, this strategy would have blown out State. LSU held State to 10 points and way under 6 yards a pass attempt for almost the entire game.

You may be right. Not trying to be argumentative.

But this team doesn't have the luxury of sacrificing its offensive identity (that was coming into its own last week) for supposedly a game specific departure.

We'll need that identity for the rest of the season.

But then again with O's future pretty much on the line today, it was win at all costs.
