Most years alligators are out in South Louisiana till mid December. No difference in teal season or opening day.

Sucks losing a dog but damn if I have to sit mine till the last four weeks of the season I might as well not have one.

Out and able to get a dog are 2 different things. Once air temps get below 70, their activity reduces substantially. Had one by the pirouge last year when paddling to a spot. 4-5' and he barely could move when I pushed him with a paddle. Chance of eating a dog is drastically reduced in November. Dog getting eaten in November would be an accident. Dog eaten in teal season is an accident waiting to happen in South La.

There is a huge difference between a September gator and a December gator.
