Both, hard hunting and no elk. When I went there in 2019 I got into elk 6 different hunts and didn’t have a legal bull any of the 6 times. So I’ll take that over 2018 when we didn’t even see an elk in a field til the 8th day if hunting. Ended up missing a good bull at about 350 yards that year. I didn’t go in 2020, but the group did and it was back Shades if 2018. 9 days of hunting very few elk, lots of walking. That’s why I say hit or miss in that area. I will say with the few times I’ve been I learned A TON about elk and how to hunt them. When I get my next chance to go I’ll definitely feel more experienced.
