So, they have to engineer new designs and then source all the wafers and component parts and pieces and, guess what? Supply chains are ALL fricked up right now. It's not just as easy as add production capacity. That can happen quickly. Sourcing everything and having finished designs that will meet the same fit, form and function at the exact same power requirements as the chips they replace is not as simple as you might think.
The largest chip manufacturer is in Taiwan. Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea all make as many or more chips than China.
