Max has regressed. I don't know why.
He's regressed because UCLA, plain and simple.

LSU entered that game with 1 established WR, an O Line that was behind in coaching, 1 experienced RB (essential for protection) that isn't an effective runner in this scheme. And a young QB trying to make reads, figure out what to do and where to go, and then decide if he can trust the open guy his keys point to.
Notice how every LSU drive seemed like a lot of hard work, no great rhythm or tempo, no flashy plays. It was a hard grind, from getting the play, to making the reads, to trying to get the ball moved.

UCLA's defense confused everyone, stuffed the run (made the team one-dimensional), and then drilled Johnson in the chest every time they got a shot... and they got a lot of shots.
