We called one run that I can recall where the RB was allowed a head a steam before getting the ball. On that play the RB (Goodwin) gained 20 yds.

Having TDP start every run at a dead stop is a travesty IMO. His game is based on momentum and power and he has none of it generated when he is handed the ball at a standstill. That philosophy make work fine with CEH or Kiner but TDP needs that running start to be effective IMO.

Amen to all of this. Our "running game" reminds me of the Miles era. "Hey, Defense. This is the one guy who can get the ball to run and he's only going to run up the middle. There will be no fakes to anyone else. There will be no threat to sweep the end."

They started showing some creativity in the running game late against McNeese. Which I thought was odd timing, but was at least a little encouraging. If nothing else I’m confident that we have more than simple zones in the playbook.

Regardless of what we run, the OL execution is going to have to get a lot better if we’re going to move the ball at all on the ground.
