Pneumonia vaccine

Just FYI. A lot of Covid deaths and long term breathing issues are the result of getting Pneumonia as a result of getting a Covid infection. There is a fully vetted Pneumonia vaccine you can get. If you don’t want the Covid vaccine for whatever your reason (and I don’t care if you get it or not. Your choice and I don’t like all these mandates either) then perhaps yoy may look into getting a pneumonia vaccine that has been fully tested. That could lessen your risks if you just so happen to be one of the few healthy that would have a bad time if you catch Covid.
It’s not like a flue vaccine where you get once a year. It can be just one shot and done for the rest of your life. Lots of people get this when they get older as preventative medicine.
I wonder if a study has been done to compare non covid and pneumonia vaxxed vs non covid but pneumonia vaxxed?
Anyway if you don’t like the Covid vaxx then maybe get the Pneumonia vaxx.

Congrats, you’re now on some FBI watch list.

Yeah it is. It is not a one shot forever vaccine.

Yeah my cousin has been in the hospital for over 2 weeks with the shite.

Depends on your age. You can get a booster if your not old and which one you got. There are a couple varieties.

My parents and I all got Covid. They both got pneumonia. I had the pneumonia vaccine and didn't get it. They were sick for 3 weeks. I was sick for 5 days. I think it probably helped.

How do you figure I’m on a FBI list?

The pneumovax, also called pneumococcal 23, is typically indicated for adults with certain medical conditions including diabetes, asthma, COPD, HIV, liver disease, kidney disease, etc between the ages of 18 and 64 years old. It is recommended for everybody 65 years and up.
Typically, we only give the vaccine once after the age of 65 and once before the age of 65 if they have any of the qualifying medical conditions.
It protects specifically against streptococcal pneumonia, a bacteria that is the most common cause of adult pneumonia.
Is it a good thing to have on board if you have any of those medical conditions or above the age of 65 and get covid? Probably.
I don't think it would cause any significant drop in complications or mortality, but a study would be interesting to see if there is a difference in outcomes.

You know, this is seriously good food for thought. And i would bet money you are onto something here.
However- here is where the left vs right, liberal vs conservative issue comes in. You could be 100% correct and the libs would shut that down fast. AND be supported blindly by those who are militantly ignorant.

The pneumonia vaccine doesn’t prevent Covid pneumonia. Two different things

Thanks for the medical input.
I got it at work when they were doing flu vaccination right before the Covid hit. I was interested in what was happening in China and read a bunch of stuff on why it was killing people. Most mentioned pneumonia as part of the cause of death. I wondered if they had a pneumonia vaccine and goggled it. There is one. Had no idea as a healthy person. Asked the flu vaccine guy at work if they had some pneumonia shots to go with the flu ones. He acted surprised I asked and said yes. He said I didn’t need one. I said am I prevented from getting one? He said no. I said shoot me up doc! China flu coming baw!

Hmmm I’ll have to goggle that.
Edit: Well even if different, it may still help. Can’t hurt.

But... several studies are going on now, and some promise with covid is being claimed.
quote:
Kaiser Permanente research finds older adults vaccinated with pneumococcal conjugate vaccine received some protection against COVID-19. PASADENA, Calif. — A Kaiser Permanente study showed that one type of pneumonia vaccine, the PCV13 vaccine, may affect the course of COVID-19 for some older adult patients.
googlymoogly

Walgreens refused to give me this one despite having a doctor's order because I was not over 65
Costco didn't care though and gave it to me, but this was in 2019 I think

Influenza and pneumonia over age of 65 in un vaccinated people mortality jumps. Big time

Great line of thinking, but if I’m correct COVID pneumonia is a viral type… the type of pneumonia the shot prevents is a bacterial one.
I could be wrong, but seems like this is what I’ve heard.
