Actually just found the 900 page AR thread that Carson started and was looking through some of his recommendations. Found this one below and is basically what I want, not sure if I could build something equally quality for significantly cheaper or just buy this one?

Hey, DD are awesome rifles, they are regarded as some of the best on the market, but your likelihood of finding one now, or even finding uppers or lowers, is almost zilch. They're also nearly $2K, which, many people regard as a little overpriced.
ETA: There are DD in stock out there and that model is about $2 grand. There are some 16" models out there for a little less.
some brands you should look at.
- BCM
- Tri Arc Systems (never going to be in stock)
- FN
- SOLGW
- LWRC
- LMT (never going to be in stock)
- Knights Armament (never going to be in stock)
POF USA

If you can’t do that for a DD then it’s impossible. I’m not badmouthing their quality at all, but their pricing is…… not optimal.
