Looking for tips on applying some kind of tape/barrier on a door to prevent dog

from scratching.
It’s an interior bedroom door made from cheap wood/particle board. I’ve tried duct tape and a few others, but he just peels it off or claws right through it.
Any suggestions on something I can apply to prevent him from cutting his paws while also strewing sharp shards of wooden splinters all over the place?

Best answer is to put the dog in a crate until you can address why he is trying to break out.
Otherwise, maybe drill on a piece of plexiglass or HDPE (available at home Depot/Lowes)
