Steve Stropolo was the star of that '72 team. Really great athlete who held Nicholls State's rushing record for a while.

Ridgewood football was always a strong 1A team. Moved to 2A in 1996(ish). Had 2 or 3 playoff years and then went into a steady decline. Just couldn’t compete with West St. John, Riverside, Newman and St . Charles Catholic after those first few years in 2A. Really the decline started after1999, their last playoff team, 2000 won a handful of games, and then completely uncompetitive.

As others mentioned, Coach Stropolo left in 2001(ish) and they never came back. Stropolo did recruit the playgrounds well and had good teams that played hard.
