I have just received my grandfathers burial flag from when he passed in WWII in the Navy. He is the sole reason I myself joined the Navy in 92. It is cloth and when I unfolded it, it had never been unfolded before, it was a 9x5 with only 48 stars. I was planning on hanging in my house, but don’t have a wall big enough.
I plan on giving it to my brother so he can hang it in his office at our family business. But I want to build a wood case with a glass front.
I under no circumstances would ever fly a burial flag outside, especially the old cloth ones. It is something you want to keep in the family for years to come and pass down to generations to come. If you fly it outside, it will shoemrten it’s life greatly.
Just my opinion of course.
