The festival was pretty much wall-to-wall bands on the polar opposite end of the “angry” spectrum from Limp Bizkit.

Sheryl Crow
Alanis Morrissette
Jewel
Collective Soul
Dave Matthews Band
Creed
Red Hot Chili Peppers

The notion that the music itself had much of anything to do with the riot/arsons/looting/rapes is spurious.

You find out that one of the members was on stage completely naked with a flopping dick while playing guitar.

Dude, after Limp Bizkit was Rage Against the Machine and then Metallica, that was the closing 3 bands on that night, that's some pretty aggressive music back to back to back.

Please note I'm not saying the music was to blame, but that's some pretty amped up music for an already bad situation.

I didn’t get the sense that the documentary was solely blaming an angry white male complex (which was totally a thing in ‘99; look at my handle, I participated ). Rather you had 350k people, some of whom bought into that mentality, at a shitty venue for a massive festival with terrible conditions and a shitty organization and a poorly assembled collection of artists.

Like angry white guys or not, when you have that many people in those conditions and little to no enforcement of any kind of basic order or provision of necessities then shite is going to go South. The promoters were/are delusional and I at least agree with the sentiment expressed that we have a major problem in this country of the older generations refusing to pass the baton out of fear of the younger generation
