I just don't see where this money comes from that everyone is talking about. The SEC just signed a contract without Texas and Oklahoma. It would be 10 years before another tv rights contract. Bowl money and NCAA Tournament sharing is miniscule compared to SEC rights.

Yep. ESPN isn't going to pay significantly more money (if they renegotiate at all) because the state of texas already pays the in market rate for the sec network. Oklahoma doesn't have the population to add that much revenue to a tv deal.

The NFL earns $11B/year on TV rights. The SEC earns $300M

Adding OU and UT will arguably increase the Saturday viewership to numbers more closely approaching NFL levels. The average NFL game gets about 6.2M viewers whereas current SEC game gets 4.2M

You also earn more on home game attendance bc ppl will pack TS for UT/OU and not so much for Troy
