That would make the most send geographically.
I also like the 4-team pod idea. You play everybody at least once every 3 years, and it creates more potential SECCG matchups. Essentially, you play the 3 teams in your pod every year, you rotate playing another pod head to head each year, and then maybe add one team from each other pod based on where you finished last year (NFL style). That would be 9 conference games though. The SECCG would be between the "division" winners of each of the pairs of pods that played head to head. So essentially, you have 2 divisions that change year to year on a 3 year rotation.
