A question about Dinardo...

I was on another board where they were "discussing" one of their past coaches. One of them made the comment that there were rumors going around and everyone thought that Dinardo had "mercilessly beat his children". Now, ive been following everything LSU for a very long time and have never heard this. Any truth to this?

From some crazy reason I feel I'm waiting for the punch line... "Dinardo couldn't beat anyone."

Wish I could help, but this is the first that I have heard about it.

Nope, no punchline. This is what the man, and i use that term loosely, said.

I can't state any facts on this but, IMHO_ He just doesn't seem like a child beatin guy. I just can't picture that.
Now, Bear Bryant, that was one mean SOB.

Never heard anything like that.
I can't see Coach D doing that

I thought Dinardo was a nice fella and a pretty good coach, at least until the coming of Lou Tepper and Josh Booty.

I don't know if he beat his kids, but he liked to partake of the adult beverages and wave guns around.

If by 'children' you mean 'LSU Fans', then yes, he did.

unless this was a joke as suggested by first response, this is a reckless, chickenshit post. I personally observed Dinardo helping out with his kids coaches pitch league.

I doubt that rumor is true. DiNardo is a class guy...good coach or not.

Naw, I'm quite sure he had a little bit of mercy when he beat his children. It's the Italian-Brooklyn way. (Just kidding.)

couldn't agree more.

If anything, his problem was that he wasn't enough of a disciplinarian. (Besides, of course, the horrible mismanagement and personal favoritism with staff decisions.)

That's a terrible rumor to start unless it is true. Someone needs to find out the story behind this.
I try and remember DiNardo's first 3 years. Those are good memories.
...not the final 2

I paid a shrink to hypnotize me into blocking those two years of my life.

He was bright enough, and definitely worked hard enough, but I thought that he micro managed (wouldn't delegate) and made very poor coordinator decisions.

My first two years at LSU were Dinardo's last two...but we still had a solid offense and a lot of fun.
