A couple of years ago, my elderly mother brought her Accord to Royal Honda in Metairie for an oil change. She told the service advisor to check the interior dome light as it stopped working. She waited in their customer lounge while they changed her oil. After awhile, the advisor came to her and told her that the wiring going to the dome light went bad and they would have to replace. Parts and labor--around $200.

She told them not to do the repair as it was too costly. A few days later when I was at her house, she mentioned to me that Royal had told her it would cost $200 to fix the dome light. I took the dome light bulb out and went to Auto Zone and bought a new bulb for a few dollars. Inserted new bulb in light, and yep, light worked again.

Almost identical here except mine involved replacing a 10-amp cab fuse for $1.
