Does this reporter actually work for Forbes as an employee or is he/she a freelancer? The journalism industry has changed so much over the last 10-20 years so many of them are now freelancers. They get paid for the article/column, but have to foot their own travel expenses. Sometimes they're reimbursed, sometimes they're not.

They are taught the ropes in Journalism school. The yknow what it pays. They should have gotten a degree in AA studies, or Women's studies. Oh wait, those pay nothing either. STEM is where the money is.
