I’m getting ready to stain about 400 sf of older concrete. Not very stain and what’s there can be easily cleaned. This is indoors & heated/cooled in my shop for a guest room / kitchen. I have a particular look I’m looking to achieve and would be greatful for someone to point me in the direction of something that could get this look.

I kind of like the glossy look and want something in line with that shade of gray.

TIA!

I’m fairly certain you want an epoxy coating. Not necessarily a stain / sealer

Could just be an additive that was put in with the concrete, with a shiny sealer on top. I know a guy who switched all of his flooring to that when lumber shot up to keep his costs in line when building houses. Looks pretty good imo

Thanks. Haven’t really looked at any epoxy coatings

That second floor looks like a metallic swirl gray epoxy.

My shop is an older shop that I didn’t build. I have no idea if they put a vapor barrier down or not.

With that said, would epoxy cause my floor to be slipper with this Louisiana humidity somehow? I’ve never had any issue with moisture on the regular concrete and the building will be heated and cooled and is well insulated. I just know a guy who put epoxy down in his unconditioned shop and had terrible issues with moisture.

There is an additive called "shark grip, shark bite or shark skin" that can be added to the top coat for slip resistance. Like sand, but less obvious visually.
