What is eating my water lilies?

Before leaving for vacation, they were fine. When we got back, they were chewed up. Help please.
Update: Found a bunch of snail-like shells on the bottom of the pads and on the stems. Also found two or three China Mark moths.

Some larvae. If you don't keep any fish in there, go ahead and treat with some pesticide.

Something hatched and was hungry. Might not even be from the water.
Do you have any small fish or shrimp in there to eat possible larvae/eggs?
