Optics Planet will fill my backorder of 45 acp!

last year after the election, Optics Planet allowed me to backorder various calibers... mostly Tula steel, but at reasonable pre-2020 brass prices.
9mm case for $210, 223 case for $330, etc. Most of these orders eventually got cancelled by them, no stock or availability.
My order of .45 acp, 500 rds (10 boxes of 50) for $179.90...
I just got email confirmation that it will ship. If I still wanted it, please reply.
I just did their online chat and confirmed that yes, I want it.
I know, it's too high for pre-2020 steel prices, but it's in the upper acceptable range for brass. Kinda like finding a case of 9mm for $250.
And yeah, I've shot steel through my 1911's, they run just fine. I'd prefer brass, but I'd take steel gladly if the option is nothing. I do have a stash, but this tops it off.
A quick check of ammoseek shows it's still 55 cents a rd at best.

I placed back orders at sportsmans guide and they would cancel them then list the same ammo at 3X the price. I didn't start with the panic, I was just ordering a few cases of ammo a month because it was so cheap. I had future orders out for almost a year with them. I also used target sports usa, they had some ammo cheaper than wholesalers... not anymore.

quote:Targetsportsusa, Sgammo, and Brownell's were the 3 I had used the most. Sgammo would have the lowest list price, but targetsports would match once you figured the shipping on a case. Brownell's would occasionally come in a dollar or so lower, with the coupon codes for free s/h and X% off.

All three would be in the under $180 range, to the door. It would rotate, S&B, Fiocchi, occasionally PPU.

I stack mostly 9mm, 5.56 and 7.62X39. Their base prices would suck but you could get coupons and they member sales. Targetsportsusa was selling 9mm crazy cheap, they just had more ammo than they knew what to do with... then people started panicking...

quote:Ok.. it'd been awhile since I had bought from them, and had let my membership lapse after awhile too. Last time I ordered from them might have been a decade ago, case of Wolf Gold 223 for $300.

9mm, like I said, I'd stick with sgammo, targetsportsusa, Brownells for the most part. Rifle, I'd look at places like Selway, in addition.
I'd shopped around a good bit, because of the number of surplus rifles I have- 7.65 Argentine, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x54R, etc. Selway would do free shipping over $300, and if they had a good deal on PPU Argentine, you could easily make it worth your while.

I’ve been waiting almost 7 months for a 7.62x39 Upper from Optics Planet. Every time the date gets within a week of when they said it would probably ship it gets pushed another month. I refuse to cancel it. I just want to see how long it takes now.
That place sucks balls. I will never buy anything there again. I just want that complete 20” upper that I found for $299.

I’ve canceled an order or two from optics planet in the past but I’ve also ordered from them twice in the last week and received both packages within 3 days. The main thing with them is if it out of stock don’t order.

My perspective, if you need it, don't order from them.
My order of 45acp was made in December, when prices were out the wazoo.
I also took fliers on 9mm for $200 a case, and 223 for $300 a case. They got cancelled. Oh well. If they would have shipped, it would have been a good price. If they don't, nothing lost.

I’ve ordered from Optics Planet a few times, and I’m usually disappointed with the outcome.
