Last year Days was an absolutely pivotal player because we only had 4 guys who could really do anything on offense. However, his size was absolutely a factor in our defensive ineptitude down low. Everyone here knows Reid is a stud. Eason seems like he could have a breakout year. A player like Alex Fudge is 6’9 and long and a freak athlete. Darius Days is coming back but I cannot imagine how Days gets 30 minutes per game like last year.

Days was BY FAR the best rebounder on the team last year and would be the best rebounder on next year's team as well. Reid is a skilled young big man. But he's not a great rebounder relative to his size. Eason is a Emmitt Williams type of player. He'll rebound. He'll play hard defensively. He can occasionally make a 3 and will get some garbage buckets offensively. But he's not a great offensive player or someone who you run an offense through.

Days would be LSU's best returning 3 point shooter. He could help stretch the floor and create spacing which is CRITICAL to what Wade wants. Is he great defensively? No. But NO ONE has been under Wade. He just doesn't place a ton of emphasis on the defensive end (not matter what he says).

I just can’t see him getting a better opportunity than he did last year to showcase his skills.

Probably not. But there is still an "unknown" factor when it comes to Pinson and Miller in an LSU uniform. It could be that Days emerges as a bigger option if those two guys aren't as great a scorers as we expect. He was the most efficient offensive player in the SEC the last two years. He took a backseat to three other guys who needed the ball in their hands to create offense on their own (Smart, Thomas, Watford). But that doesn't mean he can't play or score. The ONLY reason his total scoring numbers were higher is because he took less shots than Thomas, Smart, Watford.

We were forced to live with games where he was 1 for 9 and got crushed on defense,

The ENTIRE starting line up (except, at times, for Wilkinson and Hyatt) were terrible defenders. It wasn't just Days. LSU lost the games when he didn't score...but it wasn't simply because Days struggled on defense

Yea, takes like "Days won't start for LSU if he comes back" are wild to me. Days has been a solid contributor since he stepped on campus and would immediately be our most proven basketball player at a major conference level, along with our best outside shooter.

Just because there is no competition doesn't mean he was good at it

What a bold bold statement

Way to put a 5-star Center into a box without seeing him play 1 minute of college basketball

So...better at rebounding than Days. Because, that's what Emmitt did

Umm that's weird, because Wade has actually said they have been downright shocked at how skilled he is. Also, Days never once had offense "run through him"...he was a pick and pop or put back guy.

Well LSU's yes because we lost most of our team. You really haven't paid attention if you think Darius Days is a better shooter than Miller. I absolutely won't argue about that either, Miller is hands down a better shooter than Darius Days.

There is so much to unfold here. If you're saying Miller and Pinson are unknowns then Days is, too. Days is 100% a stand on the 3 point line and shoot or get the rebound and put back guy. He is incapable of creating his own shot. He has not done it in 3 years, we've barely even seen him dribble ever in an LSU uniform. He took backseat because he needed the others to serve him the ball. He's undersized and has no low post moves, and he cannot create off the dribble. He was the 4th option because he was the 4th best player.

This has been a Darius Days thread, correct? I've been referring to Darius Days. I haven't been talking about the others. They did all have problems. I never said Darius Days was the sole reason we lost a game or the sole reason for bad defense. I'm just pointing out he sucked on defense, too. However, why are we all the sudden acting like Days is some irreplaceable player? This is a guy that is who he is. He's inconsistent, he's undersized, he lacks certain offensive skills. He shows great hustle at times, he's a very good Pick and Pop player that can spread the floor, he's very likable and seems to have the ability to be a good leader. He's not an NBA player, he's not a G Leaguer. He's the type that good college teams need. He's a 4 year type role player. He had NO ONE to push him for PT last year. He won't get 30 minutes a game. His numbers will very very likely decrease and I just simply wonder if he's ok with that. Reid is going to play and be a stud. Eason will get minutes. Eason and Days play nearly identical positions although they play it differently.

I would love to have Days back. I welcome him with open arms. The more weapons we have the better, but c'mon, let's be real about this guy's ceiling. His ceiling is what he did last year. That's a great ceiling to have because that's all we need from him! Everyone gets so butthurt if you critique a player. He's a 6'7 PF who is a shooter and can't create his own shot and isn't good on defense. He does rebound well and shows emotions and brings some toughness. That's who he is and who he will be
