Pelicans fans are so goddamned delusional
You can find many articles about Chris Paul loving New Orleans. Even Anthony Davis loves New Orleans. But the organization? Not so much. However, Gayle has made improvements after AD left.
Winning cures everything. Kobe and Tim Duncan almost left their teams also.

CP kept his place for a while and still came back every summer for his youth program for many years.
And I think enough interviews, articles, and players from that era have corroborated the stories enough at this point that it was ownership and the front office that killed the CP era and nothing else. Had we not tried to sell off Tyson for spare parts, refused to spend money on guys like Taushaun Prince(confirmed by DWest), and signaled to be more about pinching pennies than winning, that core probably sticks together for many years more.

He demanded a trade & said he wouldn’t re sign. Not sure how that is interpreted as wanting to stay
