Not surprised once they found software irregularities
“In the wake of backlash from students and faculty, the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College has dropped all charges against a group of 17 students accused of cheating on their remote tests.
The charges were based on online activity data recorded on Canvas — a popular course management system used by schools for online learning.
The accused students reportedly accessed course materials while taking a closed-book exam.
Dartmouth had dismissed seven charges after a few students argued that instructors had mistaken Canvas activity for cheating. However, 10 more still faced possible discipline, including suspension.
The school’s decision was followed by on-campus protests and letters of concern from faculty and student organizations who believed that these students were shouldering the responsibility for a faulty online proctoring tool.“

Med school in America have a very high pass rate...> 90%. These guys were just trying to up their class ranking to get better residencies. Low character move. If they are lucky to stay in school, they'll have a tough time matching

I used Canvas regularly in college and it can definitely be glitchy and faulty. I never had an issue when taking an exam through it, but I can definitely see how it could happen.

My last two semesters of college were Spring and Fall 2020 so height of covid.
Every single test was basically a group effort over discord or zoom and it was just the best and most stress free test taking experience lol.

This is why you use two laptops when taking an online exam

My son just completed year 1 of LSU med Nola. Every class was on line, but every test was in person. The cadaver lab was on line, but is now optional in person this summer. He, of course, is doing that as are most. From what I understand, that is essential for anyone wanting to do surgery. The docs on here can speak to it better than I.

They are still smarter than any of the docs coming to America from the Caribbean. let'em cheat

What part did I miss? Admitting they used an app during a “closed book exam” justifies expulsion.

Can we get their names to avoid them in future?
