I personally know if young families who leave EBR to raise their young children where schools are better. They can’t afford private schools so they leave.
Per Wikipedia
2010 population 440,171
2019 population 440,059
There is no growth parish wide
Cities:
BR 2010 was 229,493 2019 220, 236 4% loss
Zachary was 14,960 2019 17,948 20% increase
Baker was 13,895 2019 13,194 a 5% decrease
Central was 26,864 2019 29,357 9.3% increase
The parish as a whole is stagnant. Surrounding parishes boomed. Inside the parish small enclaves with their own school systems grew. Other parts declined.
White flight is real.
