Why are you worried about how much it will cost?
You feel like you’re going to have to personally write a check to get him?

Why are you asking him that question? Why do some people always act so obtuse about this subject?

If something has to belong to you in order for you to care about it, then why do you call yourself a fan? You don't run the university, you don't coach the team, and you don't play for the team. So why do you care if they win or lose?

Has the point sunk in, yet? People want LSU to get the best guy, but they know that money isn't limitless. So he's asking the question of whether or not Vitello is worth the cost it would take. Personally, I can't answer the question, because I don't know what it would take. But I think the guy is probably worth outbidding whatever Tennessee is willing to pay him, because I don't know where they're going to find the extra money in their budget to pay a baseball coach what LSU can. But, I don't know what sort of boosters they have who might offer him the moon. If it had come down to a bidding war with A&M, I'd say look elsewhere. But that's not going to be an issue now.

Ultimately, it comes down to whether or not he wants to leave, or build a legacy where he is. At LSU, the standard is already set, and it's win now or bust. That sort of pressure is not for everyone.
