You don't understand how these things work. I'll give an example, and I don't mind naming the individual because there isn't a fricking thing she can do about it.

In 2011 in the closing months of Operation New Dawn, the Battalion Commander of 50th Signal Battalion, LTC Kathy Fox, who was the first (and likely only) non-Airborne Battalion Commander of a traditionally airborne unit, attempted to make her HHC Executive Officer sign for theater equipment that there was no way he had the ability to verify in the time allotted and would no doubt have thrown him under the bus had he failed. That was the last straw for many of her leaders and was just the latest in a long line of toxic behaviors she exhibited. Every female leader in the Battalion, en masse, including her own Command Sergeant Major, filed a joint complaint with (then COL) Maria Barrett, the Brigade Commander for 160th Signal Brigade that the 50th was TACON under. Unbeknownst to Fox, COL Barrett requested and was granted an IO from ARCENT to investigate the situation.

Right before 50th redeployed to Bragg, Fox was notified in person by COL Barrett that she was being relieved for cause due to a substantiated toxic command climate.

This basically ended her career. Her training seat at the War College was cancelled and she was basically made a special projects officer in XVIII Airborne Corps for the remainder of her time in the Army (in this role, she managed to completely frick up the Corps Ball the following spring). On her way out, she attempted, and failed to ruin the careers of both her XO and her S3. Fortunately for both, they were able to overcome her pettiness.

She still retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and her DD214 says honorable.
