Nick Saban is 69 and is signed to coach til he's 77
Tim Corbin is 60

Woodward is possibly getting a proven commodity. Casey can get players and develop them. He's had a multitude of top players come through OSU. The guy is their version of Skip.

If his issues with the Heimlich situation are aired to leave no questions regarding what he knew, and how he handled things, then literally no one should shite on this hire. It's like SC hiring Spurrier. The man elevated a dead program to a really good team and had some top 10 rankings.

LSU has a stocked cupboard of young talent that can easily win a title in a year or two

My initial reaction to the news was why replace Paul with someone one year younger when Paul’s ‘leaving bc of his health issues’. This is very short sited and not taking the big picture into account since Casey ‘can’t stay for more then 5 years max’.

Then I thought about, maybe this is the best hire for the big picture. Especially since the second half of sec play all of our freshman pitchers have seemed to improve and you can see the potential (even Money with his homeruns given up bc you still root for that guy no matter what).

We know we have a bad arse core coming back no matter what with crews, Morgan, daughty, Thompson, and gio. So we need a coach that has proven he can win when he has the talent. Casey may be one of the best qualified according to that. He comes in and wins with good talent which increases the chances of the program only elevating it bc he will keep the strong talent coming off of his resume/LSU results.

I’ve been on the Vitello train since the beginning due to the instant success at Tennessee (everyone believes its skill and not luck) but he hasn’t actually won anything yet bc he hasn’t had the chance. Who knows if he’s not like a Big Game Stoops when it truly matters?

But if Casey has instant success with the talent already here, which just leads to an elevation of the program’s current status, then when he does step down/retire sooner than people want, the program will be able to hire that year’s biggest named up and coming young coach that actually has a more ‘proven’ resume. Basically what I think Vitello will be in 1-3 years but there’s no guarantee. I hope it takes longer bc LSU whips their arse this weekend!

So basically it comes done to a safer bet for now and potentially getting to make even a safer bet in a few years that’s younger, or gambling on less odds but the payout could be great!
