The treaty said China gets Hong Kong in 100 years. Time goes by fast.
Colonizing nations can only show primitives the way. If they learn the way (like HK) they're gonna have to build defensive systems like Taiwan.
If they don't learn the way (like Africa) ya gotta let them go back to hunter/gatherer condition.

The best student was the primitive Brits. They learned a LOT from the Romans who eventually gave up on them.
The Irish didn't go to Roman school so they were a few hundred years behind the Brits.
