Coaches have gotten away from guys who have high OBP, can steal bases, hit for a decent average, bunt, move runners up, and play great defense. Coaches too get caught up into size and HR potential. That worked in the pre-BBCOR era but now, besides recruiting great pitching, you would think they would turn back more to guys that simply play baseball really well.

Exactly... and that’s where we are going wrong. Stop looking at numbers and start looking at the guys potential to rise when given the opportunity to play for LSU and be coached by the best in the country. Scrappy baseball players who will lay it on the line.

I think LSU does have a roster with many of those types at this time but they need some leadership. They don’t have that at this time. I think with the players we have and what the new coach can hopefully bring in, we’ll have a championship caliber team in a year or two.

We do need more really dominant arms. Some real gas throwing Friday and Saturday guys with at least 3 really good pitches. If we can develop and or recruit that with the talent we have and coming, we’ll have what we need and should have as an LSU baseball program.
