re: Album of a band you would tell someone to buy first if they never heard them before

I would have anyone looking to explore Metallica's catalog start with their self-titled record and then make their way backwards through Justice, Puppets, etc.

That's the path I took and it's helped me to appreciate all phases of the band's career.
