Grounding/practice swings in sand

Anybody watching the pga right now? Morikowa just stood by his ball and took 3 practice swings in the sand, I thought you weren’t allowed to take practice swings from sand?
Didn’t look like it was a hazard, it was greenside

I believe the natural sand areas aren't considered hazard. Just the man made bunkers.

Common with courses like that where sand is everywhere and also is the cart paths.
They also don't have to rake afterwards.

Dammit, that's what I was thinking but didn't want to overstate.
I think some guys are treating some greenside bunkers like normal. At least I feel like I saw that.
