The lie angle is extremely critical regardless of the manufacturer.
If the lie is too upright you'll pull balls with a perfect swing or of course hit it right with a too-flat lie. The higher the loft, the more this comes into play. Here's something you can do to see this: put a wedge on a table top so that it's soled in the center. Put the head of a tee on the center of the face , that the tee represents the ball leaving the face, tee pointed at the target. Pull the grip end down so that the toe comes up and watch how the tee starts pointing left. Do it with a 4iron and you'll see the tee doesn't move nearly as much.
Because of the toe-down effect during the swing your irons should sole 1/2 inch toward the heel. But if your wedges are 2* upright you'll miss the left bunkers. All tour players have their wedges a degree or 2 flatter than their other clubs.
