very good WR. big and strong. Offered from pretty much everyone but LSU. Wanted an LSU offer but never went to an LSU camp and was not offered. I expect him to be very good at Miami.

Is Miami gonna redshirt him?

Idk the redshirt rule, which I think it's if they touch the field they lose it (they may have some exceptions I think), but if it's that, then Byrd had 3 catches last weekend so I don't think he's going to redshirt

He will not redshirt. They need the depth. Why wasnt he offered by LSU just curious. Thanks for the info.

Our coaches liked other receivers more.

LSU wanted DeAndre Brown, over Byrd...ended up with neither.

And I'm afraid that may happen this year with Michael and Richardson. If we can't sway Richardson from Bama and Michael gets tired of waiting and commits somewhere else

I think it will end up that way. I dont think TR comes here because of RB by committee. The more our coaches makes CM wait the more the chances of him going to TAMU. But I wouldnt worry too much with Ford and Pratt already on board and the gurus seem to think we have a good chance with Lache.

Ehh....it was obvious LSU wanted Brown, but I think they picked Molten over Byrd

I think all this talk about CM being left out of the picture is a little ridiculous. It defies all logic to think that a five star player would get no recognition from a team he seems to be enamored with in LSU. I think early in the recruiting process yes he may have been overlooked as we pursued TR but now i think we have learned our lesson that TR is going to play games with us and that CM is just as good and i think LSU is starting to go after him hard now.

He played last night, although I don't think he caught any passes.

lsu was recruiting byrd as a safety the whole time. there was something about his physical makeup that they were really intrigued by. as a result, he started playing safety for his high school. he was originally a defensive back as a freshman. i guess they were looking at him as being a curtis taylor type of free safety who could fly down the field and pick off a lot of deep balls. the molton situation came down to route running, but like i mentioned before, the tiger staff was never really considering byrd as a receiver. molton's good camp and advanced route running is the reason he's a tiger.

a lot of SEC teams questioned byrd's toughness, but he looked pretty good blocking downfield against the gators. he was one of the best receivers in last year's class at competing for the ball in the air. great hops and really good hands. good speed. he'll be better than the veteran receivers on the squad right now.
