As someone who would have loved an MLB team here 14 months ago - frick Portland we do not deserve a team. they should move to Montreal

Can't wait to see it. Another city/state will be lured into building the stadium, partly based on promises that All-Star game will be hosted there in next X years generating incremental economic revenue.
God forbid local politicians do something that violates Manfred's conscience, though. Because then that All Star game gets pulled out and with it goes part of the financial justification for the stadium you just subsidized for the assholes.

How much of a consideration is geography? Charlotte in the Western Division isn't going to work in baseball. Too many Pacific Time Zone games.
Unless you go back to four divisions. The Braves and Reds were in the NL West. Then the wild card game can be 3 at 2 with the winner playing 1 in the division series. But do they want to redo the division and playoff structure just so the A's can relocate to Montral/Charlotte/Nashville?
