Most car leather is actually a painted coating on top of the leather itself. Some high end cars may have fully dyed leather but that is pretty rare.
One of the best interior cleaners I have used is Griot's garage Interior Cleaner. It got marker stains off my wife's Sienna brown leather in our minivan. I also use it to do a clean of the leather surfaces when I deep clean and you wouldn't believe the dirt it gets off the leather steering wheel.
Follow up with a protectant after cleaning.
