Western Pennsylvania was about as good and dense of an area as there was in the country for high school football talent up through the early 80's.
Pulling Pistol Pete out of W Pennsylvania was pretty sweet as well.
Sadly and remarkably at the same time, all the great NFL QBs like, George Blanda, Babe Parilli, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, and Joe Willie Namath never played for Penn State. Except for Marino, Pittsburg struck out too with all the great QBs going out of state.
