Soviet Influence During Cold War (Still Relevant Today)

I don't think most people realize that much of the left-wing in America (during Cold War) was directly funded and influenced by the Soviets. The Soviets often funded "peace" organizations as a way to turn the Western population against their "war mongering" governments all the while holding up the Soviet Union as peaceful victims of Western aggression. The Soviets were the original "dindu nuffins."
Perhaps the biggest success the Soviets had was the formation of the "World Peace Council" during the Cold War. This group is still active and openly admits it was created by the Kremlin and the Soviet communists. Its original goal was to promote "peace" and to oppose "warmongering" by the U.S. Strangely, even though the Soviets were involved in much killing and conflict, the WPC never spoke out in opposition to any of that. Its first HQ was in Paris but the French quickly threw them out. Later they moved to Austria but the Austrians also were onto them and banned them. It moved to Helsinki where it remained until the 1990's. Now it is in Athens, Greece.
Here's some other communist front organizations that spawned out of the WPC or were affiliated with it:
Christian Peace Conference - Founded in 1958 in the Czech Republic and pretended to be a Christian peace group. This group received at least $200,000 from the Kremlin. Now defunct.
International Federation of Resistance Fighters - Founded in 1951 in Vienna, Austria. It was initially an organization intended for civilian resistance fighters to Nazism. Of course, it was nothing but a communist front organization spewing Soviet propaganda. During the 70's the group held conferences discussing how the West should disarm. Since 2004 it has incorporated the words "Anti-Fascist" into its name at the insistence of young members.
International Institute for Peace -- Created in the 1950's in Austria after WPC was thrown out for being communist. IIP was created as a replacement organization by the Kremlin. Today the group has UNESCO status with the U.N. They claim to be a group looking for "peaceful resolution" to conflicts and to fight climate change (of course).
International Organization of Journalists - Created in the 1950's by the Kremlin and centered in the old communist Czech Republic. The goal, of course, was to indoctrinate journalists from around the world in communist ideology. In the late 40's this group actually absorbed several western journalist organizations. However, by the early 50's many Western journalists dropped out because it became clear it was a Soviet front. The CIA described the group as "an instrument of Soviet propaganda." In a 2009 interview, a Finnish professor who was the chairman of the group in the 80's admitted they took orders directly from the Kremlin.
International Union of Students - Founded in 1946 and still in existence. It is designated as a UNESCO group by the U.N. It was founded by the Soviets to indoctrinate students around the world. After the fall of the Soviets, some eastern bloc countries kicked this group out. During the cold war the CIA actively funded a rival student organization to fight the communist doctrine the IUS was spewing on American campuses. In any case, the organization is still active in 112 countries, but claims they are no longer communists (lol).
World Federation of Democratic Youth - Founded in 1945 in London as a communist front organization. It labels itself as "anti-fascist, pro-peace and anti nuclear war" and claims it wants to unite youth from around the world against "imperialism." The group's first secretary was a member of the Young Communist International, leaving no doubt as to this group's origins. During the Cold War, this group has opposed virtually every U.S. policy and was in line with pretty much all Soviet policies. This group is still around and also enjoys support from the U.N.
World Federation of Scientific Workers - Founded after WWII. Still in existence and is another U.N. UNESCO organization. This group opposed nuclear testing by the U.S., but never Russia. During the Korean War, it came out in strong support for the communist Chinese. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, the group came out in strong support for Cuba and wrote letters to JFK asking him to back off Cuba. During Vietnam it strongly opposed the U.S. and wrote a letter stating that it was going to donate books, lab equipment and other scientific goods to the North Vietnamese.
World Federation of Trade Unions - Founded in 1945 by the Soviets as an attempt to unite all labor unions across the world. It is still active and has a branch in New York. In 2005 the president of the group was a member of the Greek communist party. The organization has held conferences in Havana, Cuba, among other communist countries. They claim their goal is to "organize campaigns against imperialism, racism, poverty, environmental degradation and exploitation of workers under capitalism."
Women's International Democratic Federation - Founded in Paris in 1945, but the French outlawed the group for pushing Soviet propaganda. They then moved to Eastern Germany and were supported by the communist government there. After the fall of the Soviets, the organization all but disappeared (weird, huh). Their funding was cut-off as they got most of their money from the Kremlin. They had a daughter organization in America called "Congress of American Women." This group was investigated by the Committee on Un-American Activities in the House. The House committee determined it was a "Soviet front organization that is more interested in promoting Soviet foreign policy than women's rights."
Another very influential "peace" group was the "International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War." This group won the Nobel Peace prize in 1984. While no one can confirm 100% they were a Kremlin fronted organization, we do know that many members of the IPPNW were also members of the World Peace Council (which was without any doubt a Soviet creation).
All of these are just a FEW such groups that were formed by communists, usually with the help of the Kremlin directly.
Here are keywords to spot any communist organization (even today):
"Democracy or Democratic"
"Peace"
"Anti-Fascist"
"Women"
More modern keywords:
"Race"
"Discrimination"
"Climate change"
Almost any group that is a consultant to the U.N. is almost certainly a communist group.
You see, communists love to pull the Orwellian trick of making their organizations sound benign. Who could possibly be against "peace", right? In reality, the communists wouldn't hesitate to kill every non-communist in a second if they could.

Bro TLDR
Lots of old communist front organizations founded by the Kremlin (with the sole intention of weakening/destroying the West) are still operational and are "consultants" to the U.N. In other words, the indoctrination continues.

They don't need to found groups and orgs anymore. Now they just pump conspiracy theories onto social media about pedo rings in pizza restaurants and a big swath of america believes it.
