The American line is (I suspect) why Ruger discontinued the 5.56 Gunsite Scout. You can buy an American ranch and install a forward rail with integrated sight for less than the cost of a GSR, and it accepts AR mags. I still prefer the GSR given the Mauser style control round feed and standard irons but the American line is fantastic.
