I'm a huge Thomas Keller fan, but I'm guessing French Laundry is outside your budget (not to mention the reservation issue). Bouchon is good, but still a bit pricey. To still get a good Thomas Keller experience for the least amount of money, look into Ad Hoc. Good food for a fairly reasonable price.

The wife and I always liked to go to a store a pick up some cheese, salamis, olives, bread, pate, etc. and have a picnic with a nice bottle of wine or two for one of our meals as well.

So many great places to eat out there, but nothing else is really jumping out of the memory bank at this moment. Have fun!!!
