So my fiancé and I are both big Nation Park nerds. We have been going around marking them off and decided that we want to have our wedding in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Specifically in St. John.

An issue I think we are going to have is finding housing for families and friends. Realistically if we could get a few 5-6 bedroom houses it would suffice. I've tried to do some research but haven't come across anything together. I want everyone to stay fairly close by each other.

Also, we aren't very religious so the ceremony will be pretty short and sweet. So our thoughts were to just do it at one the compounds we stay at. I have found a couple of venders that would come and bring music, food, and drinks.

ETA: we are trying to not really have any parties at the VRBO's, so venders might be out of the question

Any suggestions on places to stay or companies to use for parties are greatly appreciated!

You best bet to be close together is at Gallows Point or Grande Bay. St. John is 60% national park and there really aren't neighborhoods there that fit what you want. Houses are generally spread out for the most part.

You may be able to find houses of the size you're looking for but they aren't likely to be within walking distance of each other. Best of luck.

Yea it being mostly a National Park was the big reason we wanted to do our ceremony there.

But,

that's what I noticed in my research. I was just hoping the TD gods might have a hidden gem. Thanks for the location help though. It's not until Feb so hopefully we can get something booked soon. It looks like with restrictions lifting people are about to be traveling more.

Would everyone staying on St. Thomas and making the trip over to St. John for the ceremony be an option?

Possibly. I'd rather everyone stay on St. John the entire time. The 'ceremony' is a loose term I guess. We are hoping to just find a house big enough to host everything there, then go to Drink St. John or something along those lines that evening

We looked into this with the same plans on our own a few years ago. The difficult part was finding a place that would allow visitors beyond who was staying there. A lot of the homes have managers who live near or on the property, so trying to sneak a gathering was not recommended. It just wasn’t worth the risk of not being able to happen.

We couldn’t afford a hotel wedding, so the option was to get a wedding coordinator to put something together on a beach. Not really what we wanted.

If you are in touch with vendors, they would probably know the best options for you especially since storms and Covid may have affected things as well.

Best of luck to you!

Good news, we found a few VRBo's close enough together that it wasn't a problem. Friends, I gave them the location of where we were and they said they can handle from there.

I'm back once again asking for the TD travel boards help...

I have reached out to Drink (haven't heard back), ZoZo (who wanted 10k just to be able to host anything there PLUS food and alcohol) and Beach Bar...but we are looking for somewhere to have (not really a "rehearsal" dinner because we aren't doing a typical wedding) a "welcome" dinner. Something where they have a few food items, open bar and maybe some music.

If you have any recommendations please post them, we will have 40 people max at this thing.

ZoZo is fantastic but I understand that it’s also very expensive. My second choice would be Extra Virgin which is also amazing and the Morgan’s Mango. Next would be Banana Deck. Fluff is awesome and they put out great food. Friends did their wedding dinner there and Greg is tight and Banana Deck fit into his budget. Banana Deck may be the best choice for what you want to do. It’s definitely well above the bar food served at Beach Bar.

I’m glad you were able to find places on St. John. It’s a great island. Hopefully the BVI opens up and you can charter the Kekoa for a day trip to Jost.

Great! It was looking like Beach Bar and Drink were going to be our choices (we are having one of the island officiants marry us and he only suggested these two). Thanks for the suggestion on Banana Deck/Fluff/Morgan's Mango.

I will reach out to these today. Hopefully they don't want $10k just to reserve the restaurant. We narrowed the crowd down to be right under 40, so I'm not sure having anyone shut down the restaurant for the night is necessary.

Also, one of my family members suggested we take a trip to see the batholith stones in Virgin Gorda for the day. Not sure if this is something you have also done. We will be there for 3 days after the ceremony so we plan on doing some awesome hikes in the national park. Hopefully things are open by next year and we can island hop...

ETA:

We have reserved 'Drink' for one of the parties. 24$/person/hour with a 300$ stocking fee. You have to get 2 hours to start then can go into cash bar or continue to add 1 hour increments. NOT too bad of a deal for open bar. We are going to get it catered as well but they suggested a few people that could provide a good budget menu.

Now, we are still searching for a reception area. We reached out to The Windmill but still haven't found anything promising. Might end up moving reception to 'Drink' and just have one of the villa's catered.
