But for a new high school grad, they have no frame of reference to the changed political landscape. Just like I'm sure that people who retired in the '90s would say that they loved their career in the military but wouldn't join because of all the "candy arse hippy shite" going on in the 90s.

I think the military (my experience is AF, but worked with all branches on deployments) is still a great way for a young person to gain life skills. For young troops, the SJW stuff is mostly briefings that 99% of folks ignore and a few emails. If doesn't have a major effect on most, unless the person wants it to.
