1) It can be very hot during the day and you need AC like no other place you are close to the the sun there! It does cool down in the shade and at night but we saw no clouds to speak of.
2) Actually you have to drive all over to see the good stuff. We put 850 miles on our jeep during the week (250 of that was PHX to Sedona, 200 to the Grand Canyon, 60 to Jerome) so we rode about 300 miles within Sedona proper many of that up and down Oak Creek Canyon.
