Please don't shoot the messenger but I was underwhelmed.
They lost to Humble 24-13. Shep had 16 carries for 12, yes 12, yards. He did pass for 240 yards but 90 of those were on a screen pass to Lipscomb and 85 more were on the final drive when they were down by 11 and Humble went into a prevent defense and left the slant open every play.
Not all of it was his fault as his O-line looks terrible. He threw an INT on a slant where the ball slipped out the side of his hand and was way behind the receiver. Also fumbled a snap that they lost and had another fumble on one of the 3 option pitches he made, but they recovered.
He showed flashes of talent but will need a lot of coaching to bring it out. I'm concerned about the size of his hands and how that could affect his passing, but overall he threw the ball better than I anticipated. Very accurate for the most part.
He also played safety on third and long situations but they never threw near him so he didn't have to make any plays.
Shep looks very shifty as a runner but he never got out in the open to show off his speed, except for one play he almost broke that was called back due to holding.
Lipscomb looks like a solid back but not SEC caliber in my opinion. Minnesota will be a good fit for him. Humble had a receiver Darius Tubbs that looked like the best player on the field. Not sure what grade he's in but he's a player.
Everybody has bad games and hopefully he'll bounce back, and he didn't get injured which is the most important thing for Tiger fans.

you think he'll lose his 5th star?

I don't think you can tell after just 1 game, but if all of them go like this one I'd say he'd drop down in the rankings some.

Can't expect every play to look like his highlight film. If so, highlight films would be an hour long instead of 3 minutes. At the end of the day, we've got an outstanding athlete and an outstanding person who can't wait to be a tiger, and I'm happy to have him.
Also, I'm glad to hear he's passing the ball well

Yes. Then Les will pull his scholly for not having enough stars.

Bad game probably due to Gustav

its just one game and it sounds like his o-line hurt him
he had a great scrimmage last week so I think game was an anomaly.

He's trying to reduce his star rating to 2, cuz he knows we like those players a lot.

This game didn't even get an article in the Chronicle after a HUGE write-up in the Football Preview issue this week. Had he played well, it would have been the #2 game behind Northshore-Katy. This kid will bounce back.

240 yds passing is pretty damn good for a QB who cant throw. Im sure they stacked the line and made him sling the football all game. Good experience for him throwing. We know what he can do running.

That is why he will play WR.

I just looked this guy up on the Humble football website and he's a 6'5 205 pound junior. We should be all over this kid.
