The times are always better/faster at LSU Pro day on the indoor turf as opposed to NFL Combine conditions at Indy

I've often wondered about this. Barry sanders basically showed up straight from his car in jorts and high tops and ran a 4.3. Deion even faster to say nothing of Bo Jackson.

How much faster would those guys have been with the modern turf and timing?

They probably would have been slower with modern timing. Stopwatch is typically about 0.2 seconds quicker than the camera on the 40 yard dash. There is a reason 200 high schoolers claim to run a 4.4 each year, but only 25 actually do it at the combine 3-4 years later. Take any times before about 2000 with a massive grain of salt.
