In Chalmette, Our Lady Of Prompt Succor has their Annual Tomato Fest the first weekend of May and there are lots of ripe Creole tomatoes to be had there.
The commercial farmers of St. Bernard usually get their tomatoes in the ground earlier than most backyard gardeners.

The creole tomato festival is usually the beginning of June. The first ones usually arrive then.
