Simply weeding out the weak if you will? Probably get down-voted by Neanderthals who cant grasp concept here as they lay contradictive empathy to such a story.

"Poor kid lost his life to drinking. Such a bright future."

Poor decisions equate to poor consequences. Not every one can lead a promising life regardless of life status.

In the 17 to 20 year old age group especially among guys, peer pressure is a huge factor in personal behavior, you cannot really say the kid was acting of their own free will, kids of this age range will do things as part of a group that they would never do as a individual acting alone.
