Basic work around home the sliding 10” will be sufficient. I have the dewalt sliding 10” and can cut most anything. If you’re going non sliding route definitely go 12”.

I've had a porter cable 12" non slide with laser for over a decade and it still works great, although on some straight cuts i do have to lift the front up to finish the cut. . I've been eyeing the Dewalt 7 1/4" battery powered slider. Has anyone had experience with that one?
