Sunrise at Haleakala (my wife hated this lol but it is a thing)

What did she hate about it? I have doubts the long drive and early wake up are worth the effort.

It’s a once in a lifetime experience, it’s well worth forgoeing one late night. The bike ride down offers places to stop for breakfast, beers and snacks and you’ll still be done by like 10am.

We immediately went to Maui brewing for lunch after we got down.

How many times in your life will you be able to see the sunrise from above the clouds? It’s worth it, no question.

The one word that always comes to mind for me is “majestic”.

It wasn’t some life changing event for me but I’m glad I can say I’ve done it. It was pretty awe inspiring. Regret not getting a photo with/of the silver whatever plant, will never see them again in my lifetime.

Cons:
-It’s fricking COLD. Seriously, layer like a mofo.
-We were second car at top, no restrooms. Went back down to piss and parking lot was full, prohibited from re-entering.
-Probably partially remedied by Covid, it was crowded and a constant body bump to keep the railing spot. fricking Asians have no sense of personal space.
-Drive down was pretty annoying when you get stuck behind a slowpoke and dodge asshats on bikes.

Wasn’t our favorite experience, but one you kinda need to do at least once while you’re there.
