Yes this may be true. Crews is shown he can play at a very high level. Hampton has not had a chance to show what he can do. He was injured during the short amount of playing time he got in the past.

If 1 out of the 9 bats you have in the lineup will cost you a win against teams like Youngstown State, then that 1 guy is not the only problem. There is a reason that they play these teams early in the season.
This is the part of the season when you evaluate your players. Including all the great freshman we have this year. But when you have an elite talent like Hampton you need to find him opportunities.

You’re assuming Hampton is not getting these opportunities in practice. Fact of the matter is, regardless of how high his ceiling may be, Hampton is behind every other player on the roster because he can’t devote the full year to the baseball team. All of these guys were hitting and fielding throughout the fall; Hampton was playing football.
